Arrived late in Vegas and went straight to the Orleans. I'm disappointed I didn't make it here during the World Series this year. But next year, fans, Ms. Mouse is in town for almost the entire series. Anyway, I was overly tired but I went down to the poker room anyway to play with friends. Played mostly low limit (4-8 Hold'em with a half-kill). Made money and, more importantly, had a good time. We sat at a good table with some nice personalities. I love it when I play with good people and personable dealers. It makes the game so much more fun.

Ick. Didn't hit the sack last night until 3 a.m. local time but awoke around my normal time (which translates to 6 a.m. local time). Yes, folks, I got 3 hours of sleep last night. When I finally dragged myself out of bed just after 7, the sun was shining and the heat was rising so I decided against my normal jaunt in the pool. In fact, I skipped working out completely. Instead, I went downstairs and ate the buffet breakfast. I skipped lunch because of the Omaha tourney but then I ate some yucky fish for dinner and topped it off with a brownie fudge sundae from Kate's corner. Total caloric intake for the day? Probably about 3000. Total caloric expenditure for the day? 0. I sat on my butt playing poker the whole day. Oh well, there's always tomorrow ...
So the tournament today was Omaha Hi/Lo. Considering that I only had 3 hours of sleep (and I am by no means expert in Omaha Hi/Lo), I was pretty happy to have made it to about the half-way mark in the field. I would have preferred to make the money, but "you can't always get what you want". Of course, I always try and I usually don't get what I need either but ... It was a mistake to play live action, too. I was too tired & now I'm down about $400 (in addition to the tournament entry). Tomorrow's the H.O.E. event for ladies so ... I'm gonna call it a night since I am utterly exhausted.

Great ... I'm the 30th best H.O.E. in the nation :) Yeah, I played all day to get knocked out about 15 before the money. Story of my life. Of course it was my fault--got knocked out on a hand where I was playing Omaha for the low-end of the pot. What kind of idiot does that make me? Actually, I got in that situation because I was so low on chips and the flop only gave me a low. It was the nut low until the river. Yeah, I know I should've saved my money rather than play for half the pot. Ah, it was only a 90$ tournament. Now, back to the tables ...
Ok, I went downstairs and got into a game of 4-8 limit H.O.R.S.E. that quickly degenerated into me playing a few dealers. Now, any dealer could out play me any day of the week, without question, so I was fortunate to only lose a little more than $100. But I had fun. Dealers are often some of my favorite people around these tournament events. For example, the tournament I played earlier today had a few nice people in there, but mostly it was a bunch of grumpy women whining and complaining about everything from the way people played their hands to the way the dealers split the pot. For a player like me (that's only an average player), that kind of behavior takes all the fun out of it--and trust me, we're the dead money you want buying into the event so you should try to make it a pleasant experience for us. On the dinner break, I told my friend that I almost didn't want to go back to the tournament since everyone was so grouchy. Sometimes it's like that in the live action games, too. I hate it when the game's not fun.
But I'll officially declare a competition arising for my favorite dealer. I thought my favorite dealer was Stosh, because every time he's dealt to me there's always been enough winning hands to bring me out of a slump. He's only dealt Hold'em to me. This time, though, Doug dealt an incredible amount of fantastic hands to me (including quad aces and quad kings two hands apart), but that was mostly in Omaha. Also, Stosh only dealt my live action and Doug only dealt my tournament. Hmmm ... we'll have to see what happens when Doug deals to me again. I just might have to switch favorites ... J

What a morning. Woke up early but couldn't drag myself out of bed. Finally dressed, got a shower, and discovered that the last clean shirt I brought with me had a massive discoloration on the chest. Great ... I just walked around looking like an idiot all day. Had a crappy breakfast at Terrible Mike's ... why do I eat crap like cheeseburgers and fries for breakfast? Maybe some day I'll grow up. Headed over to the Bellagio. Doubled my buy-in within two hours and continued to sit there and give it all back ... plus some of my buy-in. I suck. Maybe some day I'll learn how to play poker. The problem is that there was a total moron playing at my table. Actually, I'm being mean calling him a moron but that's because he pissed me off. He was one of those guys who thinks he's a poker genius and acts obnoxious as hell. And, as though I couldn't hear him, he's explaining to his buddy how he's got my play all figured out ... which, naturally, when he explains my strategy gives me an easy way to trap him--except that I couldn't pick up the frickin' cards to do it before he left. I HATE THAT!
Trip total? In the hole. Oh, well. Can't win 'em all. I wish I could've played the Ladies Event today at the Orleans but I figured I shouldn't bother since it was a two day event and, as unlikely as it may be to happen, I wouldn't be able to stay for the second day if I made it that far. Now it's back home. I hate leaving Vegas ...
