Description of room:
They think they're Bellagio ... but they're not. Caesar's is one of the "snooty" strip properties I refer to. The atmosphere is not comfortable or relaxed, but it is a good place to watch people during tournament time. The staff is often nice and try to make you feel at home, but just the design of the place is a little rigid.
Description of comps:
Never gotten a comp here, but I've earned points. You need a Total Rewards card and you swipe in and out. They pay you a dollar an hour to play. Of course, a burger's going to run you about twenty bucks so ... I bring granola bars in my purse.
Games offered:
The lowest limit is 4-8 Hold'em. Lowest no limit game is 1-2 Hold'em. They have higher games and varied games, depending on the demand. Demand is pretty good during tournaments, but a lot of games still don't run since most tournament players seem to be Hold'em specialists.
Poker Room Rate:
Talk about slave labor ... they require 8 hours of play per day to get the poker room rate. And get this, I was told that if you book for the tournament, you still have to play the 8 hours a day to get the room rate. Um, I don't know about you, but if I'm having a bad day, I'm not going to play 8 hours. I may play 12 hours the next day to make up for it, but average that out and it's only 6 to 6.5 hours per day. 8 hours a day is a full time job ... which translates into Caesar's only offers discounts to the professional poker player. Only I don't know a professional poker player stupid enough to pay their rates ($119 Sunday through Thursday, $199 Friday and Saturday). 'Course, I don't know that many professional poker players ... so maybe there are some rich ones that don't actually care about their money. I'll opt for cheaper accommodations, thank you all the same.
Safety:
The parking garage is mildly icky. Whenever I'm here, I use the valet. If the valet is full, I park next door at Bellagio and walk over.
